Have you ever had those days where you were just unmotivated to go to the gym and work out?

Have you had those weeks or even months?

We’ve all been there some days. It’s hard to find that reason to get up and go and let’s be honest; it’s a lot easier to sit around and do nothing than get up and do something.

So how do we fix this problem? How do you find the reason to get to the gym?

Well, the first answer lies in the question, What’s the reason you wanted to go to the gym in the first place? Maybe you wanted to lose weight or get strong and get ripped? Always look back to why you started your fitness journey in the first place, and ask yourself have I reached my goals?

This leads to the next answer, Goals. Maybe you have achieved your initial goals, so what’s next? Giving yourself a goal is a great way to keep you coming back and getting better. Maybe you’ve always wanted to run a marathon or compete in an obstacle course race. Maybe you saw a new sport or competition of some kind, and you wanted to try that, so you start training with that new goal in mind.

Those are great goals to help get you excited to come to the gym. These goals don’t have to be anything major; they can be as simple as getting your first muscle-up, stringing together a set of pull-ups, or finally getting a big set of double unders?

Either way, find yourself a goal and get after it!

That being said, reasons and goals are a great way to get, and stay, motivated to get into the gym, as long as they don’t start becoming a crutch for you to show up. Just because you don’t have goals or reasons right now doesn’t mean you won’t in the future, so it’s always good to stay fit then start from the beginning every time something new pops up.
